Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday announced the ‘Agnipath Recruitment Scheme’. The Defense Minister said that the Agneepath scheme will be applicable to the country’s armies. Rajnath Singh said that this will fulfill the dream of the youth of the country who want to join the army. Singh said that the Agneepath scheme will increase employment. The Defense Minister said that under the Agneepath scheme, Indian youth would be provided an opportunity to serve as ‘Agniveers’ in the armed forces. He said that Agneepath Recruitment Scheme is a revolutionary initiative. Agneepath scheme has been brought to strengthen India’s security.
What is Agneepath Scheme
Under the Agneepath scheme, the youth will be inducted into the army for a period of three years and the youth will serve the nation. Before the implementation of the Agneepath scheme, the Chief of the three services i.e. Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pandey, Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Choudhary and Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar also gave a presentation of this plan to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Youth will be able to be recruited in the army for a short time
Under the Agneepath Entry Scheme, the soldiers will be known as Agniveers, after which the defense forces will have the option of keeping some of them in service. Under this scheme, there will be an opportunity to take a new form in the three services of the country – Army, Air Force and Navy. Under this scheme, at the end of three-four years, most of the soldiers will be relieved of duty and they will get assistance from the armed forces for further employment opportunities. Corporate companies are showing interest in reserving jobs for such trained and disciplined youth. Apart from this, 25 percent of the soldiers will be able to remain in the army who will be skilled and capable. Due to this project, the army can also save crores of rupees. On the one hand, fewer people will have to give pension, while on the other hand, there will be savings in salary as well.

On completion of the engagement period of four years, Agniveers will be paid one time ‘Seva Nidhi’ package which shall comprise their contribution including accrued interest thereon and matching contribution from the Government equal to the accumulated amount of their contribution including interest as indicated below:
Youth will be able to work in corporate companies
The best talent from amongst the Agniveers would be placed in the Army and the rest would have the option of leaving for civilian jobs. Corporate houses are already in touch with the government to hire military trained youth. As per the records presently there are 1.25 lakh vacancies available in Defense Forces.
